A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, or any other age-related type of dementia, will be life-changing, not only to the parent who has been diagnosed, but also to the adult-child caregiver and other family members. This program will help you gain an overview of what you may expect, understand and manage your emotions, explore your caregiving roles, and adopt some basic strategies to help you address the daily challenges of journeying with a parent with Alzheimer’s or another age-related type of dementia.

While Alzheimer’s Disease is probably the most widely recognized, publicized and discussed form of dementia today, it is only one of hundreds of types of dementias. Vascular dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and conditions such as Lewy-Body Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome and more can also cause dementia, as can stroke and chronic use of alcohol or drugs. Depression, inadequate hydration and insufficient oxygen to the brain from inactivity can also cause dementia-like symptoms. Regardless of whether your parent’s dementia is caused by Alzheimer’s or something different, this program will help you gain more insight into this disease process.

We will hope you will join us for our FREE educational program. This program is designed to help adult children gain insight into the world of aging, and how we can take proactive steps to help our loved ones live safe and happy lives.
